Fire chief talks fireworks safety

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - July 4th is just days away, and there are steps you can take to make sure you have a safe Independence Day.

Fire officials say never to set fireworks off inside. They say to make sure nothing flammable is around the area, and you should use large open spaces when you set them off. Fire officials say adult supervision is always required when using fireworks.

"Just follow the directions and use common sense. A lot of times, if just people would use just good, common sense, that would solve a lot of the problems," said Chief Paul Collins with the Lily Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire officials also say you should not use fireworks if you are under the influence of alcohol.
