Frost possible tonight

Flowers are blooming and some fruits are growing thanks to the mild winter, but they are in danger tonight.

Temperatures will get near freezing tonight which brings a frost advisory.

Agricutlure Extension Agents say all the blooms need to be covered up tonight or they could be damaged for the rest of the spring season.

“You're better off erring on the side of caution instead of taking the loss, especially the fruit because that's getting into your pocketbook whenever you're dealing with fruit loss and production,” Bonnie Sigmon, Horticulture Agent, said.

Agents say all outdoor plants should be covered up and if they are in a greenhouse, make sure there is enough heat.

WYMT's Chief Meteorologist Jim Caldwell says temperatures should hover right around the freezing mark tonight.
