Constitution Day Celebration

Posted: 09/17/2007 - Monday marks the third annual Constitution Day which is being celebrated nationally and locally in the mountains. Many people including some local students gathered at Hazard Community and Technical College to hear about the importance of the constitution. HCTC President and CEO Dr. Allen Goben says the day is an opportunity to celebrate democracy. "The Constitution is such a beautiful model because it was developed to help us understand how to build structure and sustainability, also how to be flexible and how to address needs as they emerge." says Goben. In 2004, President Bush made September 17th the official day to honor the birth of our government.
