BARBOURVILLE & HYDEN, Ky. (WYMT) - Summer is Relay for Life season in eastern Kentucky.
Kaeli Hale, 11, survived cancer and participates in the Knox County Relay for Life every year to give cancer victims hope for survival.
"It's fun to be out here with everyone else," Hale said. "Because you don't feel like you're the only one doing it. At church we hear prayers and praises that they've either been diagnosed with it or that they have overcome it."
Another cancer survivor and relay participant, Susie Ross-Gambrel, said "This is my sixth walk. I started walking in 2008 after I was sick and diagnosed. I'm still walking. I'm still blessed to be alive ."
During relay for life, people walk all through the night to raise money for the American Cancer Society, which turned 100 this year.
Leslie County's Relay For Life was also Friday night.
