- A federal appeals court is taking up a case brought by the widow of World War II veteran from southern Kentucky seeking to require the U.S. Army to review an application to award her husband a Medal of Honor.
- It has been one of the most talked about endorsements in the U.S. Senate race, especially in our region. The United Mine Workers of America is backing democratic candidate, Alison Lundergan Grimes. On Wednesday, with less than a week to go until Election Day they held a rally for Grimes in Pikeville.
- The booming sound of drums and other instruments will fill fields across Kentucky this weekend. Several schools from the mountains are competing to be the best at the Kentucky State Marching Band Championship semifinals Saturday. WYMT spent the afternoon with two schools vying for the trophy, Pike County Central High School and Hazard High School.
