Former Commonwealth's Attorney appointed to judgeship

Governor Beshear has appointed the former Harlan County Commonwealth's Attorney to a circuit judgeship.

The governor's office announced Friday Henry Johnson will fill the vacant spot in the 26th Judicial Circuit.

Johnson served as Commonwealth's Attorney for several years before losing the spot to Parker Boggs in the last election.

The judgeship has been vacant since 2011 when then Judge Russell Alred was removed from the position by the state Judicial Conduction Commission for ethics violations.
