Union's Brake, Juarbe named to All-AAC Preseason Team

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Seniors Tyler Brake and Gabby Juarbe were named to the 2013 Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Wednesday.

The baseball coaches in the AAC voted and selected the 18-member team.

Brake, a first baseman from Burlington, Ky., is the top returning hitter for the Bulldogs. Last season, he batted .324 with four home runs and 35 RBIs. Brake also lined 14 doubles and scored 35 runs while recording a .987 fielding percentage. He was responsible for 422 putouts and had 35 assists with only six errors.

Juarbe, a catcher from San Juan, P.R., batted .275 with one home run, 11 doubles and 18 RBIs. He had one of the batter arms in the league behind the plate as he threw out nine out of 43 base-stealers.
