MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State sophomore quarterback Zach Lewis was honored this week by the College Football Performance Awards. Lewis was named Honorable Mention for Quarterback Player of the Week, the organization announced this week.
Lewis led the Eagles to victory over Pioneer Football League foe Marist 45-39 on Saturday. He had a terrific game in which he went 33-for-46 passing for 311 yards and four touchdowns. He had scoring strikes of four, 10, 16, and 21 yards to four different receivers. Lewis was very efficient and spread the ball around quite well, as ten different receivers had at least two receptions.
Lewis has now thrown for 1,203 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season. He is currently third in the nation in total passing yards and fifth in the nation in passing yards per game.
The Eagles will travel south to Atlanta, Ga., to battle the Georgia State Panthers in a regionally televised game at the Georgia Dome on Saturday Oct. 2. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
