#15 Lady Bearcats Run Past Lady Railsplitters, 85-66

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- 15th ranked Lander University went on an early 11-0 run and held off the LMU women's basketball team for the 85-66 win Saturday evening at the Carson-Newman Lady Eagle Classic.

LMU (3-2) was led by Amberly O'Dell's game-high 21 points, including a career-tying seven three-pointers. Dayshalee Salaman added in 18 points and dished out 11 assists for the Lady Railsplitters.

Lander (2-1) was led by Ciara Lyons and Jasmine Judge with 17 points apiece. Brittni Johnson added in 12 points and Kaylyn Small had 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

With the score tied at 5-5, Lander's Precious Elkins scored inside to spark an 11-0 run that put Lander up 16-5 with 13:55 to go in the half.
LMU then scored six of their own to cut the lead to 16-11 before Lander went on a 14-2 run to take a 30-13 lead.

A 3-pointer by Salaman and a basket by Edina Musa cut the lead to 41-31 at the half.

The second half saw Lander outscore LMU 28-10 over the first ten minutes to shoot out to a 69-43 lead. LMU was able to cut the lead to 19 but could get no closer as Lander held on for the 85-66 win.
LMU will wrap up their portion of the Lady Eagle Classic when they face 12th ranked Delta State Sunday at 1 p.m. DSU was upset by host Carson-Newman 54-48 on Saturday. The Lady Railsplitters will return home to open South Atlantic Conference play when they host Wingate Wednesday at 6 p.m.
