Despite entering last season with high expectations, the Sheldon Clark Cardinals never saw its talent translate to the football field.
"We had the strength and the speed last year, it's just we got beat by Rockcastle like 46-7 and after that it was like our whole team just dropped and nobody wanted to play anymore. Everybody just quit."
"Last year was, uh, we went 1-10. It was a little rough. We never came together like a team should. One thing happened after another and just didn't go like we thought it would."
Entering 2012 with a new mindset, the Cardinals are eager for their fresh start.
"The biggest difference between last year's team and this year's team is leadership. Every senior's gonna be a leader this year. We didn't really have anybody step up and be a leader last year. We need leaders."
"Well, so far our team chemistry has been great. Kids has worked real hard. They get along. That was a big thing, so that's what we're trying to take into this year."
"We're all close. This senior class is really close. We've all played together since we were real small and we trust each other."
Sheldon Clark will get its fresh start in 2012 at the Thoroughbred Bowl at the Harrison Bowl on August 18th.
