WHITESBURG Ky. (WYMT) - The #2 Letcher Central Lady Cougars are heading to San Diego, California for the Surf N' Slam Basketball Tournament.

So far this season they are 9-2 on the year with their only in state loss coming at the hand of Scott County. Head coach Dickie Adams says he likes the way his team is playing right now, but would like to see them continue to improve.

"I like that some of my younger players have contributed maybe a little more than I, not anymore than I hoped they would, but maybe more than I thought they would, so I have been pleased with that", said Adams. "We've really struggled with illness and injuries, and, hopefully we can get healthy with two days off from school, and we can get back to playing. We have not played as well as I want us to play before the season is over. But, they have won most of our game, they are 9-2 and I am not disappointed with that."
