(WYMT) - The one high school game everyone will have their eye tonight will be #4 Breathitt County at #6 Somerset.
These two met up last season with the Bobcats winning 20-0. Although you shouldn't dwell on the past, there are similarities going in to this game. But, the "X" factor could be the line play.
"It's very similar teams doing the same things, different faces", said Bobcat head coach Mike Holcomb. "But, they have a ton of kids that they play. Again, the defensive line looks outstanding to me. Their front five inside. They are able to take five or six guys, and are able to stop the run. So, they are very strong defensively. But again, some of the same faces and some new faces out there."
As for the #6 Briar Jumpers, they are playing their second straight top ten match up at home, After beating then #5 Hazard last week 17-9.
With having to replace so many players from last season's state semifinal team, head coach Robbie Lucas says it is very important to have such high profile games at home.
"You know, it's very important. Last year, this group year, I took last year's team on the road more than I did this group, and that was planned", stated Lucas.
"We ended up going and traveling six games last year away, and did that for a reason. That group was older, more mature. This group here, we're going to be replacing quite a bit, so we basically took and flipped the schedule, looking two years ahead. It's important to have (Breathitt County) at home. They have to travel. Last year we had to travel the two hours, whatever it is, an hour and forty-five to get down there, and it throws you out of your routine a little bit."
