BARBOURVILLE Ky. (WYMT) - We are now less than 48 hours away from our Appalachian Wireless game of the week, as the #3 Harlan County Black Bears travel to Barbourville for a battle of two top five teams with the #5 Knox Central Panthers.
Wednesday, we spoke with Panthers head coach Scott Russell and he says he knows exactly what the number three Black Bears will try to do on Friday night, and it's up to his team to stop it.
"Well, I'll tell you what. Harlan County is just a big, physical football team", said Russell. "You know, they love to run the ball and any time you coach against Coach Larkey, Coach Larkey's teams are always well prepared. So that's one thing. We're just going to have to go in there and prepared for what they're going to do. They're not real fancy about what they do. They're going to bring it right at you and dare you stop them and defensively, they're really tough. They bring a lot of pressure on you so have to play gap control offense and know where they're going to be and try to block them."
The game between the #3 Harlan County Black Bears and the #5 Knox Central Panthers is our Appalachian Wireless game of the week. Coverage of the game will begin at 7:30pm Friday night right here on WYMT.
The Black Bears will look to improve to 4-1 on the year while the Panthers hope to remain undefeated on the year.
