Pike County Central Wins!

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Adrienne Sloane scored 18 points and
grabbed 11 rebounds to rally Pike County Central to a 55-42 victory
over Rose Hill Academy Thursday in opening-round action of the
Girls Sweet Sixteen state basketball tournament.
Pike County Central (21-10), champion of Region 15, moves into
Friday's 6:30 p.m. CDT quarterfinal matchup against the winner of
the Shelby County-Notre Dame game.
The Lady Hawks eliminated Rose Hill (17-10), winner of Region 16
and last year's state runner-up.
The Lady Royals, led by Division I signees Emily Queen and Laura
Terry, quickly jumped to a 14-4 lead on the Lady Hawks. Terry and
point guard Britt Faulkner each picked up three first-half fouls,
and the Lady Hawks rallied with them on the bench, tying the game
at 25-all by halftime.
Terry, a Louisville signee who averaged 17.4 points per game,
picked up her fourth foul in the third quarter and fouled out with
6:56 to play, scoring just seven points.
Queen, who has signed with Middle Tennessee, tried to pick up
the slack with 25 points and 14 rebounds for Rose Hill, but Pike
County steadily pulled away, claiming a double-digit lead for much
of the fourth quarter.
In addition to Sloane, Kayla Lowe scored 14 points for the Lady
Hawks.
