June Buchanan Falls to Warren Central, 71-53

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Monie Hudson scored 14 of his 18 points in
the second half as Warren Central rallied to beat June Buchanan
71-53 in the first round of the Sweet 16 boys' state basketball
tournament Thursday night.

Joe Hood also scored 18 points for the Dragons (29-4), the 4th
Region champs who will play Elliott County in Friday's
quarterfinals. Elliott County beat Shelby Valley 68-55 in another
first-round game Thursday night.

Nick Britt added 16 points for Warren Central, and Aaron Rhodes
finished with 10.

Clark Stepp led June Buchanan (26-7), the 14th Region winner
making its first Sweet 16 appearance, with 18 points, and Tate Cox
scored 12. Garrison Collins had four points and 10 rebounds.

June Buchanan pulled ahead 10-9 with 3:19 left in the first
quarter and led 15-12 after the first quarter. The Crusaders stayed
with their opponents through the second quarter and trailed just
32-31 at halftime but came out shooting cold in the third quarter
and only scored three points in the first 6:41 of the period.
