#7 Bulldogs stiffle Cavalier women

Cumberland, Tenn. – Cumberland University limited UVa-Wise to 18 first half points as the nation’s #7 ranked team posted a 60-48 win over UVa-Wise at the Dallas Floyd Gymnasium on Saturday.

Josette Campbell paced the victorious Bulldogs (20-1, 11-1 Mid-South) with 14 points and six rebounds while TaCouya Allen and Jessica Pace each added 11 points in the win. As a team, Cumberland out-rebounded UVa-Wise 38-27 as the Bulldogs scored 19 second chance points on 22 offensive rebounds.

The Cavaliers (6-15, 3-9 Mid-South) received 23 of the team’s 48 points from its starting front court, Chelsea Cluesman and Christine Nyobe. Cluesman scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Nyobe posted 10 points and six rebounds in the loss. The loss was the eighth in the last nine games for Head Coach Kristin Kunzman’s Cavs who now face an uphill climb to make the Mid-South Tournament.
UVa-Wise will return to action on Saturday when Bluefield College visits the Prior Center for a 2:00 p.m. tip. The action can be heard on www.uvawisecavs.com
