MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State senior shortstop Drew Lee has been named a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. It is the latest in a long list of awards and nominations for the Mt. Sterling, Ky. native.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Lee was one of 30 senior baseball players from across the nation that were nominated for the award.

The initial candidate list will be shortened to a list of 10 finalists in early April, with the winner being selected by a nationwide ballot and announced at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. in June.

Last season, Lee was named a Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball All-American for his play on the field and a Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for his work in the classroom.

Lee and his Eagle teammates kick off the 2010 season Friday at 4:00 in the first game of a four-game weekend set at Mercer.
