UK's Johnson Sheds Pounds To Become A Better LB

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky linebacker Micah Johnson has dropped 20 pounds since last season. The sophomore hopes a better body coupled with a better understanding of his position might yield better results.

Johnson, now 248 pounds, was disappointed with his freshman season with the Wildcats.

He came to UK as the most-heralded recruit of the Rich Brooks era. Johnson played in all 13 games, starting two, and had 29 tackles with no sacks or tackles for loss.

Johnson says he was surprised to make the All-SEC freshman team after last season. He grades himself a C or C-minus for last year.

Johnson says he expects to start in the upcoming season and then make big plays.
