The Johnson Central Golden Eagles boys' basketball team named former star player and assistant Tommy McKenzie, as their new head coach. McKenzie spent the previous two seasons at Johnson Central an assistant under Mark Starns.

As a Golden Eagle player, McKenzie helped lead Johnson Central and their fast style of play to the 2000 Sweet 16, before falling to Antwain Barbour and eventual state champ E-Town in the quarterfinals.

During McKenzie's senior campaign, Johnson Central stormed through the 15th region, posting a 26-7 record. McKenzie was named as the 15th region player of the year and he was named to the WYMT All-Mountain Team.

McKenzie says that coaching at Johnson Central is his dream job.
