PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A mountain product who knows how to win is the latest signee for the women’s basketball team at Pikeville College.
Eden Keeton of Four-time 14th Region champion Breathitt County has signed a scholarship agreement with Pikeville College to continue her education.
Keeton helped Breathitt to regional titles each of her last three seasons at the school. In 2009-10, the Bobcats were 22-8 and lost only once against 14th Region competition.
“The object in any sport is to win, and this is something she has plenty of experience with from her high school career,” said Coach Bill Watson of Pikeville College. “We look forward to her bringing that mentality to our program as we continue to build toward winning championships.”
Keeton, a 6-1 center, averaged 7.5 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Bobcats last season. For her career, she averaged 5.7 points and 6.8 rebounds. She also shot 54.6 percent from the field for her senior season, handing out 51 assists, grabbing 40 steals and blocking 25 shots.
Breathitt County won 72 games while losing only 21 during the last three seasons, including an appearance in the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16 in the 2007-08 season.
The Lady Bears have won 37 games the last two seasons and reached the semifinals of the 2010 Mid-South Conference tournament. Watson is set to begin his 14th season as head coach and is the winningest coach in the history of the program.
