LUBBOCK, Texas – Morehead State senior shortstop Drew Lee has been named one of 25 quarterfinalists for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award. Lee was also named a quarterfinalist in 2009.
The award, presented by Mizuno, is given to the nation’s top collegiate shortstop and will be presented at the College Baseball Awards Show in Lubbock, Texas on July 2.
Lee, a native of Mt. Sterling, Ky., currently holds a batting average of .416, with 15 home runs and 64 RBIs this season and has already broken or tied five career marks at MSU and is on pace to break several other career and season marks as the season winds down.
Lee’s RBI mark was tops among the list of quarterfinalists heading into last weekend’s action.
MSU is back in action on Wednesday with a midweek game at Marshall before traveling to Murray State for a crucial Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend.
