The game was tied 2-2 with two outs and 1 runner on for North Laurel in the Top of the 7th when the rain came pouring down on Thursday night. That postponed the end of the game to Friday evening.

When they resumed, Destinee Fisher of South Laurel got a strikeout to end the 7th. Megan Taylor did much of the same in the Bottom of the 7th, striking out a pair of batters in a 1-2-3 inning.

The Top of the 8th was much different. North put 4 runs on the board thanks to a great slap bunt and some timely hitting. The Lady Jags led 6-2.

Emily Gaines of South kept the game alive with a 2 out homerun, her 17th of the season. That ties her for the second most in a single season in KHSAA history.

But that was all they could muster as North Laurel got a groundout to end the game with a 6-3 victory.

It is the 4th consecutive Region title for the Lady Jaguars. They now head on to Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro for the State Tournament. They will face the winner of Region 4 at 10:45 AM on Friday.

The Region 4 Championship game is Saturday between Barren County and Allen County-Scottsville. North Laurel has already faced Allen County-Scottsville twice this season, losing both.
