BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College men’s basketball program announced today the signing of two local standouts, Josh Smith (Corbin High School) and Brad Marsee (Barbourville High School), to its roster for the 2010-11 campaign.

Smith, a 6-foot-3 guard/forward and three year starter as a member of the Redhounds, averaged 13 points and eight boards in his senior season. He also helped lead Corbin High to back-to-back District and Region titles (2008-09).

Smith garnered All-State Honorable Mention honors in 2008-09 and was named to the All-Conference tournament team three straight years (2007-09).

Marsee, a 6-foot guard from Barbourville High, earned First-team all-region honors in his senior season while also averaging 15 points a game to go with his 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals per contest.

“We are pleased to have signed both Josh Smith and Brad Marsee to the Union College basketball program,” head coach Sean Gillespie said. “Both of these young men are going to be a great fit for us here at the college and will make an impact both on and off the floor.”

Gillespie went on the say, “We have been blessed to get good local basketball talent to commit to Union and these two young men only add to an already strong recruiting class. We are looking forward to seeing them compete in a Bulldog uniform.”
