Meet Coach Kevin Keathley Tour Set To Conclude In Prestonsburg

PIKEVILLE, KY. – The Meet Coach Kevin Keathley Tour will make its final stop in Prestonsburg on Thursday evening at Blackcat Stadium. As part of the tour, Coach Kevin Keathley and other members of the Miners organization have already met with numerous fans throughout Eastern Kentucky. Previous tour stops took the Miners to Pikeville, Hindman and Inez.

Keathley is nearing the start of his first campaign as head coach of the East Kentucky Miners, an expansion team in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Intense and energetic, Keathley is the youngest coach in the CBA. Earlier in the summer, Keathley had a former player, Jemario Moon, sign with the NBA's Toronto Raptors.
The Miners will begin play in November. East Kentucky will play its home games at the Expo Center in Pikeville.

The Meet Coach Kevin Keathley Tour kicked off on Monday in Pikeville. Following a visit to Hindman on Tuesday, Keathley and a contingent from the CBA team visited Inez Wednesday evening.

"I'm looking forward to visiting Prestonsburg again," said Keathley. “It gives me another opportunity to spread the word about East Kentucky Miners Basketball."

Keathley has spent eight years as a coach in the college and pro basketball ranks. After successful coaching stints at Lees College and St. Catharine College, Keathley guided the Louisville Eagles to the 2003 UPBL championship. In 2004, Keathley was named head coach of the ABA's Kentucky Colonels. The Keathley-coached Colonels finished the 2005 season 21-12, falling to eventual league champion Arkansas in the second round of the playoffs. The Colonels ranked fourth in the Massey Ratings. Keathley was named the ABA Coach of the Year following the 2005 season. At the time, Keathley was the youngest head coach in pro basketball. In 2006, Pro Basketball News (www.probasketballnews.com) ranked Keathley as one of the top 10 young coaches in America. Most recently, Keathley was the top assistant coach of the Rio Grande Valley Silverados.

The East Kentucky Miners Coach has authored a book on basketball, entitled Hardwood Constitution – A Blueprint to Coaching Success. Keathley is an Eastern Kentucky native.

The Diamond Girls Dance Team – official dance squad for the East Kentucky Miners – will also be in attendance at the Prestonsburg event. Information on how to purchase season tickets will be available during Thursday's tour finale in Prestonsburg.
