Alice Lloyd's Nickell Named KIAC Player of the Year

Berea, Ky. (February 27th, 2012) - The KIAC coaches have selected Alice Lloyd College forward Ariel Nickell as the conference player of the year and Asbury University head coach Bart Flener as the conference coach of the year. Asbury University guard Trenia Barbee was also named newcomer of the year.

Ariel Nickell led Alice Lloyd to a regular season third place finish in the conference with a 6-5 record. She led the conference with 22.5 points per game and was fourth with a field goal percentage of 43.5 percent. Her points per game average was fourth in NAIA Division II. She ranked 18thnationally with 9.23 rebounds per game.

Asbury University head coach Bart Flener led the Eagles to their first KIAC regular season championship. They were co-champs with IU Southeast after both teams finished with a 9-2 conference record. They had an overall record of 17-11 and earned the top seed in the conference tournament.
Asbury University guard Trenia Barbee was named the newcomer of the year. She was second in the conference with 18.03 points per game and was second with a field goal percentage of 48.2 percent.
