LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The actual number of tickets scanned for people at Kentucky's football game Saturday was fewer than half the number of tickets sold.

WLEX-TV obtained the information through an open records request and learned 18,885 tickets were scanned at the Vanderbilt-Kentucky contest, which Vanderbilt won 40-0. It was Kentucky's first shutout against the Commodores since 1968.

Announced attendance for the game was more than 40,000, based on the number of tickets sold.

The day after the game, Joker Phillips was fired as coach of the Wildcats (1-9 overall, 0-7 Southeastern Conference). Athletics director Mitch Barnhart said a national search for a new coach would begin immediately.

Phillips has agreed to coach the last two games of this season.
