Bears finish second in Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Pikeville women’s bowling team turned in another solid performance in the 2013 Seminole Classic, hosted by Florida State University over the weekend.

Coach Ron Damron’s team finished second in the varsity division, rolling a total of 8085. That put them behind Webber International and nearly 400 pins ahead of third place Central Florida. Florida A&M and Florida State were fourth and fifth.

In the tournament, the Bears lost 2-0 in the semifinals to Central Florida.

In the JV division, Webber International was the winner, with Pikeville A and Pikeville B finishing second and third.

Junior Christina Halen led the varsity team with a six-game average of 202.33. Senior Kaylee Magazine rolled four games with an average of 201.00, while junior Ashley Copley played four games with an average of 198.5.

JV A was led by sophomore Felecia Proctor, whose four-game average of 178.75. Freshman Fallon Tallman rolled five games with an average of 176.8, while freshman Tricia Kent’s four-game average was 176.75.

JV B was paced by sophomore Jenna Grandy, who averaged 181 for five games. Junior Alexis Vescovo averaged 180.5 for four games.

The Bears will be back in action Jan. 26-27 in Richmond when they play in the Bulldog Classic.
