Pep Rally -- Pond Creek Nation Style

BELFRY, Ky. (WYMT) -- The Belfry Pirates continue to celebrate their football state championship.

On Monday, the community came together and had a celebratory pep rally inside the Belfry gymnasium.

Belfry head coach Philip Haywood, among others, spoke at the rally.
After three straight years of losing in the state championship game, everyone is pumped they have another trophy to add to their case.

"It's very exciting," Belfry senior cheerleader Sai Casey said. "I just think everybody is going crazy about it because it's so fun. We have tried three years for it and finally -- especially me as a senior -- we finally won my senior year and it's just great."

"I just think that we are all behind the boys and it's been heartbreaking to lose, especially so close the past two years, and now we have finally, this whole community has come together. Especially with coach Haywood being the best coach in the nation and all that. I just think that we are all so happy and we are all excited."
