The No. 1 Belfry Pirates will be looking to get back to the state title game for the third straight year, but first they will have to get past the Bourbon County Colonels.
After a win Friday night over the No. 6 Breathitt County Bobcats, 41-20, the Pirates were back on the practice field Monday in preparation for their semifinal round game with an undefeated Colonels team.
"Well, they are very good. Like you said, they are undefeated. They've got all kinds of skill, all kinds of athletes out there. They have five or six guys who can score from anywhere on the field when they touch the ball, they can take it to the house," Pirates head coach Philip Haywood said. "So, that is what we expect, a lot of speed, a lot of talent. They can run, they can throw. They are just very talented at almost every position. They are very fundamental, well coached, they do things well. They put a bunch of points on the board every Friday night, so we are going to have to play very well defensively."
