Belfry's Johnson named WYMT player of the week

BELFRY Ky. (WYMT) - It is now time to announce our WYMT player of the week for last week's action.

This week we go to the Pond Creek Nation for our winner. Belfry junior running back Justin Johnson ran for 266 yards on just 13 carries last week, in the Pirates' win over Prestonsburg. While adding four touchdowns, Johnson, along with his coach Philip Haywood, says it all begins up front with the line.

"Well, I always just run hard and try to do my thing. The line always helps me, you know, because they block and have their own schemes and stuff that they call on the line. So yeah, that's what really gets it going", said Johnson.

"He had two, three, or four big plays the other night and really helped our football team. I think he'll be the first to tell you that he had some pretty good blocking in front of him, and most of our guys just kind of fit into the system, but now he popped some nice plays, made some good cuts, and broke two or three nice plays", added Haywood.
