The Bengals on Thursday signed free agent WR John Standeford (6-4, 200; Purdue).
Standeford is classified a second-year NFL player. He has 11 games NFL experience with four starts, and 16 receptions for 249 yards. His last NFL action was with Detroit in 2009. He played in the United Football League with Florida in 2010 and was with the UFL Virginia Destroyers in 2011.
Standeford left Purdue as the Big Ten career leader in receptions (266) and receiving yards (3788), scoring 27 touchdowns.
