WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands (UC) senior outfielder Blake Debacher (Miami, FL) was named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Player of the Week for his performance this past week.
Debacher collected 12 hits in 23 at bats last week hitting .522 with a slugging percentage of .609. He also scored 9 runs for Cumberlands and drove in 10 more runs while helping the Patriots win six of their seven games.
The week got started with Debacher going 3 for 4 with 6 RBIs in the Patriots win over Ohio Midwestern 15-4. He then had 4 hits and scored twice in UC’s 5-4 win over MSC foe Rio Grande in game two of the series. During the series with Rio, he went 7 for 11 from the plate with 2 doubles.
On the season Debacher ranks 11th in the MSC with a .474 slugging percentage and is tied for 13th with 15 RBIs.
“Blake had a great week,” said Head Coach Brad Shelton. “He has had really good, competitive at bats. He’s hit the ball hard and been a run producer.”
Cumberlands is currently sitting at 11-8 (2-4 MSC) on the season heading into this week’s action. The Patriots host Holy Cross on Tuesday, March 12th starting at 1:00 pm and Ohio Midwestern on Wednesday, March 13th starting at 1:00 pm. UC then gets back into conference play on Friday, March 15th when they host Lindsey Wilson College with game one of the series starting at 1:00 pm. The series resumes on Saturday, March 16th with game two starting at 12:00 pm and game three at 3:00 pm.
