LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Pikeville's Jamar Board is the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
The weekly conference award is Board's first of the season.
Board averaged 27 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in Pikeville's two games against ranked opponents.
The Capital Heights, Md., senior guard scored 29 points in the Bears' 98-93 win over No. 2-ranked Mountain State (W.Va.) University to open the week. Board finished just as strong with a 25-point performance in an 86-84 loss to No. 8-ranked Georgetown College.
For the week, Board connected on 48.1 percent (13-of-27) of his shots from the field, including four for 14 (28.6 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. He shot 96 percent (24-of-25) from the free throw line.
No. 1-ranked Pikeville is 6-1 this season following last week's play. The Bears host Shawnee State University tonight.
The next men's basketball player of the week award is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Nov. 28.
