ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union junior first baseman Tyler Brake is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the first time this season the Burlington, Ky., native has received the honor.
Brake posted a .462 average with two home runs and six RBIs last week as Union went 3-1. In the three-game series at Milligan (Tenn.), he went 6-for-11 with two homers and six RBIs with five runs scored. He recorded a slugging percentage of .923 and an on-base percentage of .533.
For the season, Brake is batting .323 with three home runs and 33 RBIs.
Union is 32-20 on the year and will open play in the AAC Tournament Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. against Montreat (N.C.). The tournament is being held in Kingsport, Tenn.
