Brianna Mulkey Tabbed To Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA -- Sophomore outfielder Brianna Mulkey has been selected to the 2012 Daktronics Softball All-Southeast Region Second Team, which was announced late Tuesday morning. The Daktronics All-Region teams are nominated by and voted on by the school's sports information directors throughout the region.

This selection follows close on the heels of Mulkey's selection to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team. The Kettering, Ohio native made the team in the outfield as she has progressed from an All-SAC Second Team selection in her freshman season to an All-Southeast Region Second Team selection this season.

In 45 games this year, Mulkey compiled stellar numbers that included a .302 batting average and a .366 on-base percentage. She was a major force offensively for the Lady Railsplitters as she notched 39 hits, good for second on the squad.

Her impact was felt most forcefully on the base paths as she led the South Atlantic Conference with 27 stolen bases in only 29 attempts. At the conclusion of the Lady Railsplitters' season, Mulkey ranked 22nd nationally in that category with 0.6 steals per contest. In just two seasons for the Lady Railsplitters, Mulkey has notched 66 stolen bases to rank her third all-time in Lincoln Memorial University softball history. Her stolen base percentage of .904 also ranks third all-time at LMU.

Mulkey was joined by six individuals from South Atlantic Conference schools on the All-Southeast Region teams. Mars Hill's Natalie Haithcox and Lenoir-Rhyne's Sarah Atkins were crowned with First Team honors while Dawon Millwood (Lenoir-Rhyne), Jessica Fellmeth (Lenoir-Rhyne), Abby Child (Anderson) and Cassidy Skeen (Carson-Newman) were selected to the Second Team.

North Georgia's Melissa Dickie was named the 2012 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year while April Jowers of Armstrong Atlantic State University was honored as the Player of the Year.
