LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Pikeville senior Jamar Briscoe is the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

The conference weekly award is Briscoe's second of the season and of his career. Briscoe also earned the award on Nov. 19.

Briscoe becomes the first player this season in the Mid-South to earn the award twice.

Briscoe scored 22 points in the Bears' 81-67 win over Life (Ga.) in his only game of the week.

The Baltimore, Md., guard also contributed four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win. Briscoe made 8-of-14 shots from the field and six of his eight free throws to help the Bears win their fifth straight game.

Briscoe is second in the Mid-South this season averaging 23.2 points per game. He ranks in the conference's top-10 in seven other statistical categories, including second in steals per game (2.8) and third in 3-point percentage (44.3).

In the NAIA, Briscoe ranks seventh in steals and ninth in scoring.

With its win, No. 4-ranked Pikeville improves to 12-1 on the season. The Bears are tied for second in the Mid-South with a 4-1 conference record.

The next men's basketball player of the week award is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Jan. 7.
