ROCK HILL, SC -- After finishing fourth in the SAC in scoring average and third in adjusted scoring, Lady Railsplitter golfer, Brittany McCown, was named All-South Atlantic Conference First Team. This announcement came from the SAC offices on Friday morning.
McCown has been the catalyst for the 2011-12 season for the Lady Railsplitters, which includes two victories and two second-place finishes. In the most recent Golfstat rankings, Lincoln Memorial University was ranked 34th in the country.
In 11 rounds this season, McCown has compiled a 78.0 stroke average, pushed down to 77.92 based on adjusted scoring, ranking third in the conference overall. Her best finish this season was a tie in third-place at the NGU Fall Classic to open the year. She fired round of 79 and 79 to sit at 14 over par for the tourney.
McCown's low-round of the season came at the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, where she notched a two under par 70 in the opening round. That score tied the low-round in the conference this season.
She has been exceptional of late as she picked up a fourth-place finish at the Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational with rounds of 73 and 75 to complete the tournament at only four over par.
Newberry College's Maria Luz Besio was named the SAC Women's Golf Player of the Year after posting a scoring average of 75.48 this season.
McCown and the Lady Railsplitters will travel to Conover, North Carolina for the South Atlantic Conference Championship on April 15th. The 54-hole event is slated to be contested at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
