BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Western Kentucky first-year coach Jeff Brohm is "doing everything" he can to maintain continuity for a program entering its third straight season with a different coach.
Brohm was WKU's offensive coordinator last season under Bobby Petrino before his promotion after Petrino returned to Louisville in January. Brohm's challenge with the Hilltoppers as they enter Conference USA is succeeding where others have struggled - maintaining success the year following Petrino's exit.
Petrino's successors at Arkansas and Louisville didn't fare well, and were eventually fired.
In Petrino's lone season at WKU, the Hilltoppers finished 8-4 in their final year in the Sun Belt Conference but missed a bowl game for the second time in three years.
Brohm believes WKU has the tools to avoid a drop-off.
