KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Union College men's basketball team moved up two spots in this week's NAIA Division II Coaches' Poll, coming in 20th in the ranking, the National Office announced Tuesday.
With Tuesday's poll, this marks the highest position Union has been in the poll since Dec. 14, 2005 (also 20th). The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA Division II conferences and independents.
The Bulldogs, 23-3 overall and 14-1 in the AAC, are currently riding the longest winning streak in all of NAIA Division II at 13 games.
Last week, the team began things by getting past Virginia Intermont at home in overtime (123-116), then rolled past Point (Ga.) (101-74) and Hiwassee (Tenn.) (79-70) on the road to extend the win streak to 13. With the win at Point on Wednesday, the Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the AAC Regular Season Championship, and in Saturday's win at Hiwassee, Union guaranteed themselves the most victories in a season since 1967-68 (the Bulldogs won 27 games that season).
