Cardinals visit President, White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WYMT) - It has become a custom that when you win a championship you get to visit the White House and meet the President of the United States.

Like the Kentucky Wildcats last summer, the Louisville Cardinals traveled to Washington, DC Tuesday to meet President Barack Obama and tour the White House. Obama cracked a few jokes and head coach Rick Pitino presented the President with a special personalized gift.

"Today we are here to celebrate a Louisville team that always played hard and always played together, that stayed focus on one singular goal, and that is to bust my bracket," jokes Obama. "I've been having a tough time lately on my bracket."

"It's a Louisville Slugger, which is located in Louisville," said Pitino handing Obama a personalized baseball bat. "It says 'National Champions' and has your name on it. The reason we picked a bat is some press conferences are difficult, as it is for me. Feel free to use this at any time."

Pointing the bat at the laughing audience, Obama jokes again, "Hear that people? I'm talking to you."
