Cats must protect Max Smith

LEXINGTON Ky. (WYMT) - The Kentucky Wildcats will be looking for two straight wins Saturday as they host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Max Smith and the offense has surprised a lot of people so far this year. As they head in to the game, protecting Smith will be key. The Toppers, in their game with Alabama though, were able to force the issue and picked up 6 sacks. So for Joker Phillips and the Cats, it is a concern.

"They're really talented. Those guys win a lot of one-on-one battles, they did", said Phillips. "The defensive end won his battles, and the linebacker won a few battles. That's the thing."

"Those guys do a really good job of putting pressure on the quarterback and making it uncomfortable for them. The coverage teams helped them also. They did good things in the back end also."
