Georgetown, Ky. - Georgetown College placed five players in double figure scoring while Devon Golden and Devanny King each posted double-doubles in a 73-63 win over UVa-Wise on Saturday.
The Tigers (17-11, 11-4 Mid-South) out-rebounded the Cavaliers (7-16, 4-10 Mid-South) 51-33, 17 of which came on the offensive glass. Georgetown also used a nine point advantage at the charity stripe by shooting 19-26 from the line in comparison to the 10-18 shot by UVa-Wise.
MaKeznie Cluesman led all scorers with 18 points in the loss, fellow Cav, Katie Jo Lester made four of nine three point shots for 12 points in the game. With the loss, UVa-Wise is now two games behind Lindsey Wilson for the eighth and final Mid-South Tournament berth.
UVa-Wise will return to action on Thursday when the team plays host to Campbellsville University at 6:00 p.m. The contest will be the annual “Play 4 Kay” game for the club as the team will honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about the disease, and accept donations for finding a cure.
