Cavalier softball wins 10th consecutive game

WISE, Va. - The UVa-Wise Cavaliers(29-19, 16-10 MSC) took both games of doubleheader against the St. Catharine College Patriots (22-28, 9-19 MSC) on Saturday, winning game one 11-2 in five innings before coming out on top in game two, 2-1.

In the first game the Cavaliers jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the home half of the first inning, on the heels of a three-run homer from Allyssa Zebrowski. UVa-Wise would never relinquish the lead as Charity Lawson was perfect from the plate collecting three hits, bringing in two runs.

Kristina Romualdo and Megan Dillion each added a homerun. Romualdo's' was her 11th of the season, tying her with former Cavalier Brittani Lawson for the single-season school record. In the circle, Rachel Hawks threw a complete game, striking five batters.

In game two, Hawks pitched seven complete innings striking out five more batter, while allowing one run. Lawson, Zebrowski , and Dillion collected the lone hits for UVa-Wise.

The Cavaliers will complete their regular season schedule on Monday, hosting Mid-South Conference foe the University of Rio Grande. First pitch is set 2 p.m.
