Cavalier women fall in regular season finale at Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. - Freshman Taylor Sandidge scored a career-high 29 points but it was not enough as Concord University shot 48 percent from the floor in a 70-62 Senior Day victory on Saturday.

Concord (10-16, 8-14 MEC) played just eight players in the win but received a combined 20 points off the bench from Leslie Mack (11) and Mela Smith (9). The Mountain Lions also had two starters score in double figures as Sammi Webster scored 16 points on 5-9 shooting and Andrea Bertrand shot 7-10 from the floor to net 15 points.

UVa-Wise (9-17, 5-17 MEC) scored 17 points off 15 Concord turnovers while committing only nine turnovers on its own offensive end. Reynesha Archer joined Sandidge in double-figure scoring with 10 points.

The Cavaliers will open up the inaugural Mountain East Conference Tournament on Tuesday when the team travels to Notre Dame College.
