Cavs Fall to Golden Bears

Wise, Virginia - The Cavaliers struggle at home on Thursday, as they fell to the West Virginia Golden Bears 86-77. This was the second time the two teams match-up on the season.

UVa- Wise hit a cold streak in the first half shooting 33 percent from the field, while West Virginia Tech 42 percent in the early going. For the game the Golden Bear shot almost 50 percent from the field, the Cavs finished with 41 percent.

Travis Berry led all scorers with 23 points, while Darius Smith added 22 to the Uva-Wise effort. West Virginia Tech’s Donald Robinson and Eddie Hayden led the team with 15 points apiece.

As a team The Cavaliers struggled off the boards, being out rebounded by the Golden Bears 42-29.

With this loss Uva-Wise moves to 8-14 on the season, and remain 5-8 in the Mid South Conference, due to West Virginia Tech’s upcoming departure from the conference in June.

Saturday the Cavaliers host The University of the Rio Grande at 4pm for Senior Day and Hall of Fame Day. The game will be broadcasted on WAXM 93.5 and waxm.com.
