COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Morehead State senior Milton Chavis has been named Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 24 points against LIU Brooklyn on Friday night at the Barclays Center.
Chavis drilled 9-of-16 from the floor, 4-of-6 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in MSU’s 77-74 win over the Blackbirds. He also recorded four rebounds, three steals, one assist and one blocked shot in 31 minutes for the Eagles.
The 24 points came after Chavis averaged just 7.9 in 32 contests a season ago. His four three-point field goals came after he drained just three in all of 2011-12. Morehead State’s victory also snapped LIU Brooklyn’s 27-game home winning streak.
The Eagles wrap up their season-opening road trip on Monday at Atlantic Coast Conference foe Maryland. Tip-off from the Comcast Center is set for 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by Fox Sports South and shown on ESPN3.com.
