WISE - - Officials at the NAIA recently announced the scholar-athlete award winners for the sport of women’s golf. Among those honored was UVa-Wise’s Chelsea Cluesman; the Academic All-America award is the third of her career. In addition to the golf award, the Jonesville, Va. native was also a two-time member of the women’s basketball scholar-athlete team.
Cluesman has maintained a 3.67 grade point average and is on pace to graduate next spring with a degree in health and physical education. The two-sport star still has one season of eligibility remaining in the sport of golf.
To be eligible for the scholar-athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic standing with his or her institution. In addition, the student-athlete must be at least a junior in academic standing.
