BRENTWOOD, Tn. (WYMT) - The Ohio Valley Conference recently held its annual media day, and one topic that was brought up to all of the coaches was the quality of the conference.
EKU, Belmont, Morehead State, Southeast Missouri, and Murray State could all be contenders to make the NCAA tournament. MSU head coach Sean Woods and EKU coach Jeff Neubauer agree the OVC is an underrated conference.
"I think the OVC is highly underrated," says Woods, who is entering his second season with the Eagles. "There are some teams that I've heard, and I've seen some of the rankings and things like that, there are some teams in the bottom half that I think has a chance to surprise some people. From top to bottom I think the OVC is very, very solid."
"I think this is going to be another great year for the OVC. I do think it's possible that this could be the first year in a long time that the OVC has two teams in the NCAA tournament," adds Neubauer. "I really am looking forward to the challenges of this year and making the adjustments that will be necessary to be one of those elite teams."
