HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Down in Hazard Saturday afternoon were the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, who were scrimmaging and taking part in a youth camp.
With several eastern Kentucky players on the roster this season, Colonel head coach Dean Hood says he's hoping that coming down to Hazard can help generate some interest and add to the fan base of the EKU football program.
"The first thing we're looking for is just to generate some interest over here in the eastern part of the state of Kentucky," says Hood. "We're Eastern Kentucky University and we wanted to come out this way, and Hazard's a beautiful place, and wanted to get people excited about Colonel football and Colonel Nation. We really enjoyed doing the little kids camp. It was awesome to get a chance to get them out there running some drills and also just talking to them."
