Commodores preparing for Blackcats quarterback

HAZARD Ky. (WYMT) - Friday night the Perry Central Commodores and the Prestonsburg Blackcats will meet up in our Appalachian Wireless game of the week.

The Commodores were out on the field preparing for the game and what they may see from new Prestonsburg quarterback Jarredd Jarrell. Both teams will get a chance to showcase their new quarterbacks Friday night, with Commodore quarterback Austin Pray taking snaps for the first time since 8th grade. Tuesday Perry Central head coach Justin Haddix talked about what he's seen so far from Jarrell.

"You know, having a running quarterback makes it a lot harder", said Haddix. "They both can throw. When he scrambles, he looks to throw also. So, you know, that makes it harder. If you drop back, he is going to take off. He really has some speed. He is a really excellent player. I know he was a good middle school quarterback. You know, he really looks good doing what he was doing against Breathitt and Bryan Station there. They are two top teams, and he really got outside on them and made some plays."

The game between the Commodores and the Blackcats will be live on WYMT and wymtnews.com. Coverage of the game will begin at 7:30pm as Earl Owens and Jim Frasure will have the call.
